Live Rec Retrig Fix for Elektron Analog Rytm

LIVE RECORDING records every pad retrig hit as a real trig, with the velocity and timing you played. While the sequencer plays, every pad retrig falls on its swung grid (Retrig Grid).

Module version 0.2.1-experimental. Base firmware: 1.74.

About this module

Stock records a retrig hold as one trig and a few locks that its held-note erase mostly removes, so what plays back is not what you played. With Live Rec Retrig Fix every hit of a roll, from RTRG + pad or a pad set to ALWAYS ON, records a real trig at the velocity it sounded and the time it sounded, quantize live rec on or off. Rates faster than a step record a trig with a step retrig, because a step holds one trig. Retrig Grid by stigmagit is folded in: while the sequencer plays, pad retrigs fall on its swung grid, and the row QUANT RTRG TO SEQ in SEQUENCER CONFIG turns that off.

How to use it

  1. Hold RTRG and press YES: ALWAYS ON turns on for the selected track. Let go of RTRG: its key glows dim red.
  2. Hold RECORD and press PLAY, then play that track's pad, varying the pressure.
  3. Leave LIVE RECORDING: the roll plays back hit for hit, on the sequencer's grid.
  4. To keep rolls where you play them, uncheck QUANT RTRG TO SEQ in GLOBAL > CONTROL > SEQUENCER CONFIG.

Controls

QUANT RTRG TO SEQ
Checkbox in GLOBAL > CONTROL > SEQUENCER CONFIG, after SAMPLE POS RES. Checked puts pad retrigs on the swung grid while the sequencer plays and records a roll's first trig on it. YES turns it over, RIGHT checks, LEFT unchecks. Kept with the project.

Compatibility notes

Test evidence

rytm-emu c5732f0, scripted pressure: every rate, ALWAYS ON, a press during a roll, rate changes, swing 50 to 66, quantize on and off, the RTRG key's light. On the author's Analog Rytm MKII (OS 1.74), as reported: 0.1.0 RR09 to RR16 pass; 0.2.0 RC07 to RC11 (rates, quantize, short rolls, re-press, the row, a project save and reload) and LD01 (the key's light); 0.2.1 in LP01, a 16-module set (a roll with pad pressure, Retrig Grid, RTRG + YES), its idle handlers 2.5 µs a block against 3.4 µs. Not run alone on a unit. See TESTING.md.
