Euclidean Sequencing for Elektron Digitakt
Generate rhythms from two pulse generators on each audio or MIDI track. Rotate either generator, rotate the whole result and combine them with OR, XOR, AND or SUB.
Module version 1.1.4. Base firmware: 1.53 / 1.54.
About this module
Generate rhythms from two pulse generators on each audio or MIDI track. Rotate either generator, rotate the whole result and combine them with OR, XOR, AND or SUB.
- Pulse counts for generators 1 and 2.
- Track length; editable in PER TRACK scale mode, up to 64 steps.
- Turn to enable/disable; press to toggle immediately.
How to use it
- Create a few source trigs on an audio track with a loaded sample. Hold FUNC + AMP to open Euclidean.
- Set PL1 to 5, PL2 to 0 and enable EUC with D. With a 16-step track this distributes five hits across the loop.
- Press PLAY. Turn RO1 to move those hits, then add PL2 pulses and try the OP combinations.
- Turn D off to restore the ordinary sequence and press NO to close. Use FUNC while turning D off only when you want to replace the ordinary trigs with the generated result.
Controls
- A — PL1 / B — PL2
- Pulse counts for generators 1 and 2.
- C — LEN
- Track length; editable in PER TRACK scale mode, up to 64 steps.
- D — EUC
- Turn to enable/disable; press to toggle immediately.
- E — RO1 / F — RO2
- Rotate each generator.
- G — TRO
- Rotate the combined track rhythm.
- H — OP
- Choose OR, XOR, AND or SUB.
- FUNC + turn D off
- Convert the generated sequence into ordinary trigs.
- TRK + trig / NO
- Select an audio or MIDI track / close the page.
Compatibility notes
- Generated hits use successive source steps and their locks.
- Four panel counts move A–H by one value in 1.1.3; D’s press toggle remains immediate.
- In common scale mode, change length through the normal scale menu.
- Conversion replaces ordinary trigs; ordinary EUC-off is nondestructive.
- Stock firmware can discard the Euclidean project extension on save.
Test evidence
Runs on Core 2.1. Emulator regressions on OS 1.53 and 1.54, an emulator CPU-load comparison with stock, and Modwerk source-build parity with the native build are in TESTING.md. sumedho reports this Core 2.1 build fully tested and working on a Digitakt 1, OS 1.53 and 1.54, for about one to two hours including project save/reload and a power cycle (2026-10-14).
