Slow LFO for Elektron Octatrack

LFO MULT gains 1/2X, 1/4X and 1/8X on audio and MIDI tracks: LFOs up to eight times slower, still synced to the tempo.

Module version 0.1.0-experimental. Base firmware: 1.40C.

About this module

Stock LFO MULT runs from 1X to 64X, so the slowest an LFO can go is SPD 1 at 1X. Slow LFO adds three values after 64X: 1/2X, 1/4X and 1/8X, which run at a half, a quarter and an eighth of 1X. They work on every LFO of the audio tracks and the MIDI tracks, follow the project tempo as stock does, and are stored where stock stores MULT, in the Part.

How to use it

  1. On a track, hold [FUNC] and press [LFO] to open LFO SETUP, and turn MULT past 64X to 1/2X, 1/4X or 1/8X.
  2. Set SPD as usual: the LFO now takes 2, 4 or 8 times longer than at 1X, still in time with the tempo.
  3. Turn MULT back to 1X..64X for stock rates.

Controls

MULT
Stock's LFO rate multiplier, with three slower values after 64X: 1/2X, 1/4X, 1/8X run at a half, a quarter and an eighth of 1X.

Compatibility notes

Test evidence

USB on an MKI (4 November 2026, Modwerk beta base, package 7392526b): trial, Keep, power cycle, SELF TEST (1/1 intact, longest frame 420 us) and removal; the tester reports 1/2X, 1/4X and 1/8X on audio and MIDI tracks' LFO SETUP, LFOs slowing to the expected rates and stock's 1X..64X after removal. ot_emu on stock 1.40C (verify.py): 1/2X, 1/4X and 1/8X move 0.5007, 0.2510 and 0.1248 of 1X; a tempo change from 120 to 210 BPM while playing scales 1X and 1/2X alike (x1.749, x1.745); the labels print as on the page. The committed package kept beside Bar LED (5 November 2026): SELF TEST passed, 2/2 intact, longest frame 371 us; the tester reports three LFOs of one track at 1/2X, 1/4X and 1/8X on different parameters, several tracks, a tempo change while playing and external MIDI clock all as expected, and the values still set after a power cycle. Without the module, a project saved with a slow value shows 64X and runs that LFO much faster (tester's report); turning MULT down restores stock.
